Community
Dr. Jaffe lives in beautiful Pope Valley, California, in a private home with his family, on the grounds of the Shadhiliyya Sufi Retreat Center (SSRC). SSRC is the mother center for the growing number of beloveds nationwide following these teachings, and walking to God-realization in this way.
Pope Valley is located in the Napa Valley, northeast of San Francisco.
There are many beloveds living in the Napa Valley, and many more in the Bay Area, just an hour's drive from Napa.
SSRC serves as a community gathering place for both local gatherings and national events and programs.
Locally, our community gathers twice weekly at SSRC for dhikr (generally a teaching followed by a deeply healing sufi prayer practice), and also for Juma prayer on most Fridays. Both are open to the public. There are also other programs and events throughout the year that serve to support and bring together our local community to enjoy and celebrate life, and our love of worship.
Nationally, SSRC provides space for events and workshops year round. Some programs are ongoing, such as our popular Zawiyah Spiritual Retreat Program, and others occur annually, such as our Ramadan 10-day retreat. Our largest event takes place in the summer when our guide, Sidi Shaykh Muhhamad al-Jamal ar-Rafa'i as-Shadhuli, visits from Jerusalem. Our events range in number of attendees from half a dozen to several hundred. Almost all of our events are open to the public, and we welcome all people to come and taste the clean water of our teachings, and of the hearts of our teachers.
