About
Not only is David Tierney honest, but he does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it. A very rare quality in this day and age. I was in a tight spot and needed a site done fast. David spent countless hours and even a weekend getting it done. That, to me, shows integrity.— Toby Gewertz

David Tierney
David Tierney lives and works in California's Napa Valley. He was born and raised in McLean, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. He received his B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Virginia in 1989. He has lived a diverse and rich life which brings fullness to his designs and an exceptional level of customer service for his clients. Outside of his work, he enjoys his family and the beauty of daily life.
Beginnings
David began his professional career with interactive multimedia in 1992 providing marketing and editorial support for the Interactive Multimedia Association and an industry publication titled, "The Multimedia and Videodisc Monitor".
"This was back when the internet was barely known, when multimedia was a new concept, and back when consumer based multimedia meant connecting a content rich videodisc player to the interactive interface of the computer".
Designing & Producing
David began his work with interactive multimedia design later that same year working for a small creative division of Philips Electronics called Philips Studio Interactive (PSI). PSI was producing interactive multimedia consumer CD-i and CD-ROM titles for markets worldwide.
"Philips Electronics was one of the major players in the international battle over whose electronic CD player was going to win the hearts of consumers and become the default player in homes around the world. PSI was one of the few highly funded content production facilities developing content for Philips."
David was involved in the design and development of a dozen plus consumer titles and corporate projects, winning several design awards. Titles included Fun with Electronics, Time-Life Astrology, Reader's Digest Home Repair, Point to Point travel guide, and many more. Other projects included designing an education program for the EPA and working with Mr. Rogers on a design for an interactive Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
Illuminating Beautiful Qualities
David temporarily left his interactive design work in 1996 as then Assistant Producer and Production Coordinator for PSI to advance his own personal growth. Over the next eight years he completed several graduate degree programs in integrative medicine including a Doctorate in Physiatric (natural) Medicine, a Masters in Acupuncture, board certification in Naturopathic Medicine, and a three-year spiritual growth and development program designed to illuminate the beautiful qualities of the spiritual heart. During this time and for some years after he provided regular health care to over a hundred clients in the greater Washington, D.C. and Baltimore area.
California
In the year 2000 David moved to northern California to be with his wife and to work with a number of non-profit organizations dedicated to providing advanced health care using traditional healing methods to improve physical health and also to help people find greater fulfillment in all aspects of their lives.
Designs by Tierney
Having achieved what he set out to achieve, and wanting to spend more time with his family, when his son was born, David chose to return full-time to his love for creating interactive design. He founded Designs by Tierney with a focus on providing small to medium size business owners with beautiful and user-friendly custom website designs that convey the best of what they offer, along with providing practical and business savvy web-standard coding techniques that support search engine optimization, cross-browser compatibility, and faster load times.
Ultimately, the rich quality of character and experience that David brings to each project, in conjunction with his professional experience and natural gift in interactive design, and his understanding of current web-standard coding practices offer a unique and valuable opportunity to any business looking for website services.
